GREETINGS EARTHLINGS

"Satellite Connection"

16x12-Acrylic,Acrylic marker & Alcohol marker on wood panel

  • The "creature" I put in a lot of my work is kind of a staple...I guess it could be an alien in one manifestation or another but it's basically something I've just been drawing different iterations of since I was a kid and has stayed with me. It didn't come in a dream or anything as far as I know. And yes f**k yeah sci-fi. Ridley Scott's films have been a big influence.

"3 RING BINDER"

8X10-Acrylic, Acrylic Marker, Watercolor,
Spray Paint,Permanent Marker, Alcohol marker & Ballpoint pen on Mixed Media paper

  • I mean that all just comes from mostly sci-fi books to be honest. 1984 by George Orwell was a huge influence on my thought process and the idea of mass communication and sort of a controlled dystopian future always seemed bleak but appealing somehow. I bring a lot of that with me into my studio.

"Audio Communication"

9x12- Liquitex Acrylic & Alcohol Marker on Bristol sheet

  • To be honest it was kind of a dig on "neurolink" if I remember right. just the idea of transmitting or uploading your thoughts to things seemed so imminent I don't believe we're far away. The handwriting says "Audio Communication for all mankind" and the other scribble simply says "Transmission".

Excepts from Ben’s newly released book, “EVERYTHING IS FINE.”

What do you want people to think when they see your work is there a conversation you are trying to start about something?

“Rather than start a conversation I'm more so trying to provoke emotions. With  alot of my stuff I choose colors based on what I think will make me happy. Not all my work is like that. But if anyone can feel a positive emotion from a piece I feel I've done my job.”
